SELECTED ACHIEVEMENTS
- Directed the largest transaction of its type in the South Australian agricultural sector; personally winning the engagement for KPMG against Goldman Sachs and leading the advisory team for ABB Grain Ltd’s A$1.3bn merger with Ausbulk Ltd. Similarly, delivered South Australia’s first Bond issue, initiating and leading KPMG’s first Public to Private transaction in the region, the A$40m privatisation of RM Williams Ltd.
- Played a pivotal role in South Australia’s A$350m ‘New Schools Public/Private Partnership’. Led all aspects of the commercial oversight for this extremely high profile initiative, including legal, finance and risk-related matters. Worked closely with the Department of Treasury & Finance; introducing critical discipline and focus to the process.
- Established KPMG as South Australia’s market leader within the M&A sector; generating a 900% increase in revenue for the Corporate Finance business. Drove a major evolution in the strategic model from a focus on small scoping studies and time-based charging to a contingency-based approach with activities across the M&A, valuation and Public transaction areas.
- Created the ‘Global Wine Industry Group’ for KPMG; building a ‘centre of excellence’ through the provision of leading edge industry analysis and transaction initiation services. Provided advisory services through the wine value chain in numerous international markets . Achieved a highly successful £30m, IPO and listing on the London Stock Exchange for Cosentino Signature Wines, generating substantial working capital and investor participation.
- Led the negotiation of a A$30m commercial property for Calcorp; managing all aspects of the process from initial bidding, syndication and securing of the equity/debt funding deal.
- Conceived the product, business development and market entry strategy for Thesmallbusinesstoolbox, targeting over three million SMEs in South Africa, Australia and New Zealand, with plans to launch across India and Malaysia in the coming year.
